Poem #99

I hated her for so long.
I blamed her for taking the place
that once belonged to me.
I should have been thanking her.

Without knowing it, she saved me
from being devoured by the black
hole beating in your chest.
She threw down the rope and
I grabbed it but she fell into the pit.

I should raise a statue in her honor
because she made life without
feeling like I’m not worthy of love
available to me. She gave me the
clarity I needed but she lost her’s.

I should thank her. Maybe another
one comes in line and saves her
the way she saved me from his
deadly jaws.

Poem #98

She just sat there and
smoked her cigarette
There’s a heavy crown
on her head but she refuses
to take it off for any man.
He was across the room and
her heart was jumping right
out of her chest. She wanted
to drop everything, walk to his
table and tell him how much he
means to her, how much he hurt
her, how much she misses him.
She wanted to feel his arms around
her waist again. She was confused,
on some level even ashamed of how
she felt so she just sat there and
smoked her cigarette.
There’s a heavy crown on her head
but she refuses to take it off for any man.

Poem #97

It’s interesting how much you can
write, think, talk, dream and sing
about someone who isn’t even worhty
of being on your mind. People like
that just crawl into your mind and
they are so bad that everything with
them feels right. You convince yourself
that the danger you put your heart in
is where your heart should be.
Love should feel like a high-speed race
but not one that ends in a crash
Jump out of that car and minimize
the damage done to your heart.

Poem #93

The trains just keep passing by.
I already got used to the noise.
My red lipstick is losing its shade
and my walk isn’t a walk of someone
who can conquer the world anymore.
I started to feel comfortable blending
into the crowd. I don’t feel like I’m
living myΒ  life, I feel like I’m
surrendering it with every door
I knock on.
The trains just keep passing by.
I already became one with the noise.
